If you’re having trouble ordering free COVID tests at home, you’re not alone. The U.S. Postal Service on Thursday acknowledged delays with “a small percentage of orders.”

On Monday, the White House launched its website COVIDTests.govwhere Americans can order up to 4 sets of tests per family for free. Tests will be delivered via USPS for free.

But some people have impossible to place orders because the website does not recognize their apartment number. Others say that an order has already been placed in their address because a roommate has placed an order.

A spokesman for the postal service, David Partenheimer, confirmed that the agency had seen delays in orders due to numerous problems.

“The Postal Service monitors very limited cases of addresses that are not registered as apartment buildings, which can lead to difficulties with ordering kits for testing at COVID,” Partenheimer said. He said the USPS recommends submitting a service request to https://emailus.usps.com/s/the-postal-store-inquiry or contact our support service at 1-800-ASK-USPS.

Julian Randall, who lives in an apartment building in Garfield Park, said he had trouble placing an order.

“I tried everything under the sun and every combination. I’ve written out “Apartment 1”, “Apartment 1”, “Block 1” and all the other ways you can only come up with. None of this worked, ”he said.

Randall said. “I just wanted them to put a drop-down box for the apartment number, like the postal service for everything else.”

TikTok users claim that the tests give false-positive results for tap water.
