The Berlin Film Festival opens with a competition line-up: watch the live broadcast – the deadline

The 72nd Berlin International Film Festival (February 10-20) announced a competition on Wednesday. Scroll down the full list.

As previously reported, this year’s International Competition opens with Francois Ozon Peter von Kant. Today, 17 more films joined Ozon’s photo, including new films from Hon San Soo, Claire Dennis, Ulrich Seidl and Rita Pan.

This is Denis’ first participation in the Berlin Competition, which has always been in Cannes for many years, and her latest film High life debuted in Toronto. The director’s new film Both sides of the blade (formerly known as Fire) as Juliette Binoche and Vincent Lindane.

South Korean director Hong San Su won the “Silver Bear” for Best Director in 2020 for the film The woman who ran away. His last photo The film is a novelist, who today Berlin’s art director said he was celebrating casual encounters.

The competition program has 17 world premieres plus one international premiere, namely Carol screenwriter Phyllis Legs Call Jane, starring Elizabeth Banks, Sigourney Weaver and Kate Mara, who will arrive in Berlin after debuting at Sundance.

As for documentaries, Cambodian Dr. Riti Pan has returned to competition after his selection in 2020 with Irradiated. Its an intriguing new feature, Everything will be fine, uses clay. Below is a picture from the movie.

Along with the competition, the Encounters lineup was also shown today. In the list of Peter Strickland from Flex Gourmetstarring Ace Butterfield and Gwendolyn Christie, as well as Bertrand Banella with his new film Coma.

A special Berlinale program has also been completed, including Andrew Dominic’s latest collaboration with Nick Cave I know this to be trueand a new film from the horror icon of Dario Argento, Sunglasses, in which his daughter Asia appears.

As previously reported, the festival has changed its format to 2022 due to the uncertainty associated with the pandemic. The European film market has gone online, while the festival continues with a personal event, albeit in a concise format, with each premiere on the first six days of the event and the award ceremony on 16 February. .
